LifeBook Memoirs private autobiography author Gillian Murray

Every life story deserves to be honored—not just for the milestones but for the quieter moments that shaped it. In this testimonial, LifeBook author Gillian Murray reflects on the deeply personal and rewarding experience of capturing her memories in a memoir. Her words are a reminder of how meaningful it can be to take the time to preserve a life well lived.

Here’s what Gillian had to say about her experience with LifeBook Memoirs:

Thank you for helping me write my memoirs. I had been making notes over the years with the intention of writing my life story for my granddaughters, but when I saw a LifeBook Memoirs advertisement in Kent Life magazine I was immediately interested. I called and was assigned a project manager named Sammie. Sammie found an interviewer, Sarah, who came and visited me regularly, bringing with her a digital recorder. As we talked, she would ask me questions that prompted me to remember different episodes of my life. Then, her recording was passed to my ghostwriter, whose work was sent to me before the next interview, so that I could review and check it. When the text was complete, we had the difficult task of selecting which photos to include in my book. Sarah helped me look through boxes of old family photos and make my selections.

Sammie kept in contact with me all the way through the project. When everything had been completed, it was time for me to let go as the manuscript and my photos went to the printer. A few weeks later, a box arrived containing my ten beautiful books, each one in a presentation box. Soon after, I celebrated my eighty-second birthday. My two sons and three granddaughters came to take me to lunch, and I was able to give the girls a copy each. They were delighted.

Gillian completed her LifeBook, The Threads of My Life, in 2025.
