LifeBook Memoirs is a world-class publisher of personal memoirs and bespoke life stories. We work with individuals and families to capture extraordinary lives in beautifully produced, heirloom-quality books — books that will be treasured for generations.
Every project is unique, deeply personal, and meticulously crafted. Our clients range from private individuals commemorating a family story to organisations celebrating remarkable people. It is meaningful, creative work — and behind every beautiful book is a talented, dedicated team making it all happen.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an exceptionally organised, warm, and detail-oriented Project Manager to join us on a part-time basis. You will be the heartbeat of a portfolio of live projects — the calm, reliable presence that keeps everything on track and ensures every author feels genuinely looked after from the very first conversation to the moment their finished book arrives at their door.
This is a fully remote, work-from-home role. We offer complete flexibility over how you structure your hours, and we simply ask that you are available across five days a week to maintain momentum on your projects and keep communication flowing with authors, interviewers, writers, and our wider team. Some of our clients are based in the US and overseas, so occasional evening availability is helpful.
What you will do
- Manage a portfolio of memoir projects end-to-end — from kick-off through to printed book delivery.
- Be the primary point of contact for authors and clients, building warm, trusted relationships and delivering an exceptional experience at every stage.
- Keep all projects moving to schedule, using our internal project management systems and proactively flagging any issues before they become problems.
- Train and support our interviewers and ghostwriters, helping them bring out the very best in each author.
- Coordinate audio uploads, written drafts, and editorial milestones, managing freelancers with confidence and care.
- Ensure all extras are agreed and invoiced correctly, and that every project stays within its agreed scope.
- Organise the final production and delivery of finished books.
What we’re looking for
- Have proven experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously — you stay calm, systematic, and unflappable when the plates are spinning.
- Are a natural communicator who builds genuine rapport with people at every level, including clients who may be sharing deeply personal stories.
- Have excellent written and verbal English, with a warm and professional manner.
- Are self-motivated, highly organised, and completely comfortable working independently without close supervision.
- Are meticulous — you notice the details others miss, and you care deeply about quality.
- Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and are confident picking up new systems quickly.
- Are genuinely interested in autobiography, memoir, personal history, and storytelling.
- Are comfortable working flexible hours including occasional evenings to support our international clients.
