The role requires:

• Commitment to complete 12 meetings; (11 of 90-minutes in length and 1 of 120-minutes in length) and also spend time preparing for the sessions, uploading the audio recordings and scanning the author amends for the writer after the sessions
• Ability to work as part of a virtual team and to agreed timescales
• Ability to follow procedures and work to directed instructions from the team’s project manager
• Good IT skills to be able to learn how to use a recording machine and scanner to specified settings and upload to our online database
• Commitment to complete an online training, which covers the technical and soft skills required for the position
• Living in close proximity to the author to allow for short travel times of less than 10 miles or 30 minutes
• A desire to work with and build a relationship and life story with the author
• Proven ability to structure a conversation to ensure all relevant information is obtained in a sensible order
• An interest in social history and people’s stories, from the everyday to the exceptional
• Active listening and strong verbal communication skills
• Empathy, patience and an open manner
• Open-minded and non-judgmental
